What an awesome offering! My fiance and I would definitely be described as unique and special. We are a FUN, free-spirited couple with lots of laughs and love to share! We are VERY excited about our upcoming wedding day filled with fun, friends, and family! We are having a hard time with the budget aspect of the wedding – not because we are having an elaborate wedding, but because we are trying to have any many friends and family as possible and ensure that everyone has a great time! Our reception is at Marbles Kids Museum in Raleigh and it would be GREAT to win a package like this to capture every detail of our perfect day!

Hi DeShelia! My fiance, Philippe, and I will be getting married in Wilmington on October 30, 2010. The ceremony will be at Saint Andrew’s Covenant and the reception will be at The Dudley Mansion. I guess the main thing that will make this a unique Southern wedding is that we aren’t from the South!* We live in San Francisco. Philippe’s whole family is from California while I’m from the Midwest. We decided to get married in Wilmington because my grandmother and aunt live there and my family vacationed there most summers during my childhood. I love the area, and I can’t wait to have our wedding be Philippe’s first (and hopefully best!) North Carolina memory.
I don’t know that we “deserve” a free wedding photography package any more than other couples, but we would certainly be very grateful! I’m a graphic designer and have been looking through design, photography, and wedding blogs just about every day since we started planning. I pretended it was “research” for my wedding invitation business before we got engaged, but I was really daydreaming about our wedding. I’ve seen so many gorgeous shots from so many different weddings, so to be able to have someone capture those moments at our wedding would truly be a dream come true.
Thanks for considering us!
*In case not being true Southerners drops us out of the running, I was born in Virginia and graduated from Troy University in Alabama so I do have ties!

I first fell in love with the South the day I stepped onto A&T’s campus. The lush vegetation, beautiful green grass, and year-round comfortable weather is definitely a welcomed change from living in the Midwest. I knew North Carolina would be my second home…just like my parents knew it would be hard to get me to ever come back to Indiana.
My fiance and I are planning a Charlotte wedding for June 2011. We’ve just started with our planning details. It has proved to be challenging already. I’m finishing a PhD program in my home state of Indiana, while he is working as an IT professional in his hometown of Charlotte. We have decided to get married in Charlotte because this is where we first met and where we fell in love. I have so many wonderful memories of the Charlotte/Greensboro/Raleigh areas and he is apart of just about every one of them. We can’t wait to have our special day and be surrounded by close friends and family. We are planning to have our ceremony and reception in the same space so that we get a chance to mingle with all of our out-of-town guests. We’ve been in a long-distance relationship for the past 3.5 years and our wedding will symbolize us finally being together in the same city, state, and zip code.
We are a very laid back, fun, couple that truly enjoys art and music. We think winning this free wedding package would fit perfectly with how my fiance proposed. He used a customized photo album of all the trips/experiences we have had while we were dating. The pictures really took us back through every event like it was yesterday. Looking at DeShelia’s photos, we think she would do an amazing job of telling our wedding story in the same way, allowing us to share this experience over and over again.
Thanks for the contest opportunity!
Hi DeShelia! What a gracious offer to give away a full day of photo shooting!
My fiancé, Scott and I are planning a wedding in early September of this year. We’re a success story of Match.com…and we certainly took our bumps along the path to finding each other. In fact, I think both of us were skeptical that we’d find “the one,” and probably approached the online dating scene as “meh, take it or leave it…” In spite of our “meh-ness” we found each other and the rest is history.
We both relocated to Raleigh from different parts of the country, me from Boston and Scott from Tampa. He’s an engineer and I’m a creative-type – he brings balance to my right brain! Scott is so much more than I prayed for in a man. I love him to pieces, and am so thankful that we’ve been brought together. When I envision our wedding day, I see a day centered around sharing our love for each other, and the excitement we have for our future together with those closest to us. Our friends and families have provided such support and love through the years and we want to share this occasion with them.
Given the renewed sense of financial responsibility in today’s society, we’ve been very mindful of keeping our wedding reasonable, not going overboard, not being tied to traditional “things.” Rather, we’ve been focused on building a day that would allow us to share our joy with those closest to us, in a venue that’s comfortable, enabling us and our guest to connect authentically (without pretense or ceremony-for-the-sake-of-ceremony). With regard to the photography, it’s one thing I mentioned to Scott that I didn’t want to compromise because capturing the moments and stories that make up our day is something that we’ll want to be able to relive again and again. We want those candid shots, the photo-journalistic moments that allow us to be re-immersed in the true spirit of our day. I’m not a super-star photographer, but I do enjoy capturing moments and love sharing them. I want to be able to have those moments captured from our day too and think you’d be perfect for us! (i.e. I LOVE the photo you have on your home page of the woman dancing! Her facial expression is priceless AND she’s got rock’n roll hands!!)
I have to echo what Emily shared in her entry – don’t know that we’re any more deserving than any other couple, but we so appreciate the opportunity to be considered.
What a generous offer, and a wonderful way to start growing a business!
Mike, my fiance, and I are engaged to be wed next Spring in Raleigh, NC – truly a capitol of the South! We are a video game developer nerd (originally from Connecticut) and a high-school-teacher-turned-geology-nerd (originally from Georgia) who got together through the wonders of the internet – and even with this opportunity, nearly missed each other!
Mike proposed on an historic bridge in North Carolina – hundreds of couples had signed it before us, and after I added our names, he told me it was missing a word – “Forever”. We are looking forward to that “Forever” while planning a locally flavored wedding – we want to show off this beautiful area where we met, live, and are settling down in (as I start my PhD at NC State in the Fall!).
I feel that DeShelia would be a good match for our Southern wedding because of her emphasis on story telling. We were so concerned about losing the special qualities of our engagement day story, we sat down together and wrote a nearly 10 page version of it, complete with our own photos from the day! We don’t want to forget a moment of our wedding day, from the goof ups to the small romantic gestures.
All of the stories posted here sound so wonderful – blessings and good fortune to all of you in your wedding plans and lives together!
