As promised (and a bit in reverse but whatev), Emily + Tommy’s LOVELY, very fall wedding from Indigo Photography.  November in North Carolina…it doesn’t get much better!  And Heritage Hill in Greensboro is pretty much the perfect backdrop for a fall wedding.

The fab-u-lous Stephanie of Indigo Photography shared this gorgeous “after” session she did for couple Emily & Tommy about a year after their big day.  Typically, these take place the day (or days) after the wedding, but I sort of love the idea of doing it around your one year anniversary.  What a fun way to relive the special day and celebrate your love together.

From Stephanie:

The wedding day goes by so quickly and you usually only have about 20 to 30 minutes in between the ceremony and the reception to do some fun shots of the wedding party along with some of the couple.  If it’s a beautiful setting, like where Emily & Tommy got married, you always wish you had more time to take more photos.  That’s why after sessions are fun, and a good excuse to wear your wedding dress again! The couple is so much more relaxed and time is on our side.  If it’s a destination wedding, I really encourage the couple to do a day after session just so we can take advantage of our surroundings.  But you don’t have to be in Jamaica or Puerto Rico to do an after session.  In Emily & Tommy’s case, Emily found a really cool mill in Greensboro, NC to the shoot.

Cool indeed!  Take a look at these shots.  Loving the muted, vintage goodness here.

These are my FAVORITE!  Who knew an old general store could be so hot?

So great right?  Thank you Stephanie for letting us do this fun feature…a different twist from the real weddings I normally do!  You must get yourself over to Stephanie’s blog and check out more of her work.  So many gorgeous Carolina weddings…LOVE!!

And because I just can’t resist a wedding, stay tuned for Emily + Tommy’s real wedding feature coming up in a bit.

So often, words cannot convey what an image can.  Which is precisely how I feel about this hilarious image.  Have a great weekend!

Earlier today, we saw an amazing real wedding from photographer Martha Manning. Martha has been shooting weddings for over 10 years, with much of that work in and around the Raleigh-Durham area of North Carolina.  In talking to her about today’s featured wedding, it dawned on me that this woman has seen A LOT of great weddings, shooting literally hundreds of couples at ceremony and reception venues throughout the area.  As a quiet observer on hand to capture the day, an astute photographer can gleaned a lot about a ceremony and reception location and its staff.  Yet for some reason, photographers really aren’t tapped into as the amazing treasure chest of knowledge that they are.

Well I am doing some tapping!  Over the next several weeks Martha will be joining us on White Thread to feature her six favorite reception venues throughout the Triangle with a real wedding to accompany each.  She’ll share her insights into each location including her favorite spots for some “must take” shots at each.  Should be fun, stay tuned!

These pictures make me want to drop everything and run to the mountains like NOW.  The wonderful Martha Manning shared these images of a gorgeous Cashiers wedding that took place at the absolute peak of foliage season.  Look at those colors!

Jessica and Scott both live in Charlotte but their families are spread out all over the state.  With several family members having vacation homes in the Cashiers area, they settled on a a destination mountain wedding as the best way to bring their intimate group together.  The absolutely magical private community of Trillium played host to their nuptials.  With its charming Serenity Chapel on the property, it really could not be more perfect!

After the ceremony, the bride and groom drove around to some of their favorite mountain vistas for a few truly breathtaking images.

Thank you Martha for sharing these incredible images! I’ve got a fun little announcement coming up later today about a series Martha will be doing with White Thread.  Stay tuned!
